Pakistan to send 192 athletes to Hangzhou Asian Games,

Lahore, Pakistan, September 23, 2023: Pakistan will field a 192-strong squad of athletes and take part in 24 sports disciplines at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

لاہور، پاکستان، 23 ستمبر، 2023: چین کے شہر ہانگ زو میں ہونے والے 19ویں ایشین گیمز میں پاکستان کھلاڑیوں کا 192 رکنی دستہ تیار کرے گا اور 24 کھیلوں کے مضامین میں حصہ لے گا۔

پاکستان اولمپک ایسوسی ایشن، جس نے اسکواڈ اور کھیلوں کی نقاب کشائی کی جو 23 ستمبر سے 8 اکتوبر تک ہونے والے ایشین گیمز میں حصہ لیں گے، نے اس ہفتے کے آخر میں ہانگزو میں شرکت کرنے والے تمام کھلاڑیوں اور کوچز کے لیے ایک دو روزہ سیمینار بھی منعقد کیا۔

کھیلوں کے 24 مضامین یہ ہیں: تیر اندازی، ایتھلیٹکس، پل، بیڈمنٹن، باکسنگ، کرکٹ، کھیل کوہ پیمائی، فینسنگ، گولف، ہاکی، کبڈی، کراٹے، روئنگ، سیلنگ، شوٹنگ، اسکواش، تیراکی، تائیکوانڈو، ٹیبل ٹینس، ٹینس، والی بال۔ ویٹ لفٹنگ، ریسلنگ اور ووشو۔

دریں اثنا، تقریباً 200 کھلاڑیوں اور کوچز نے NOC کے ذریعے منعقدہ سیمینار میں آن لائن اور جسمانی طور پر حصہ لیا جس میں اہم موضوعات پر معلومات فراہم کی گئیں، جن میں ڈوپنگ کنٹرول، غذائیت، مقابلہ میں ہیرا پھیری، کھیل میں ہراساں کرنے اور بدسلوکی سے تحفظ شامل ہے۔

این او سی کے سیکرٹری جنرل محمد خالد محمود نے کھلاڑیوں اور کوچز کو یاد دلایا کہ وہ ملک کے سفیر ہیں اور اپنے آپ کو مثالی انداز میں چلائیں۔

سیمینار نے شرکاء کو ماہرین کے ساتھ مشغول ہونے اور ان اہم مسائل کی گہری سمجھ حاصل کرنے کا ایک پلیٹ فارم فراہم کیا جو ایشین گیمز کے لیے ان کی تیاری میں اہم کردار ادا کریں گے۔ اس نے ایتھلیٹس اور آفیشلز کے درمیان نیٹ ورکنگ اور علم کے اشتراک میں بھی سہولت فراہم کی۔

پاکستان نے جکارتہ اور پالمبنگ میں 2018 کے ایشین گیمز میں کانسی کے چار تمغے جیتے تھے۔ اس بار ملک کے تمغوں کی امیدوں میں ارشد ندیم بھی شامل ہیں جنہوں نے گزشتہ ہفتے ہنگری کے شہر بڈاپیسٹ میں ہونے والی عالمی ایتھلیٹکس چیمپئن شپ میں مردوں کے جیولن میں چاندی کا تمغہ جیتا تھا۔

The Pakistan Olympic Association, who unveiled the squad and sports which will compete at the Asian Games from September 23 to October 8, also held a two-day seminar for all athletes and coaches participating in Hangzhou this weekend.

The 24 sports disciplines are: archery, athletics, bridge, badminton, boxing, cricket, sport climbing, fencing, golf, hockey, kabaddi, karate, rowing, sailing, shooting, squash, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.

Meanwhile, nearly 200 athletes and coaches participated online and physically in the seminar held by the NOC to impart information on key topics, including doping controls, nutrition, competition manipulation, protection from harassment and abuse in sport.

NOC Secretary General Muhammad Khalid Mahmood reminded athletes and coaches that they were ambassadors for the country and to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner.

The seminar provided a platform for participants to engage with the experts and gain a deeper understanding of the critical issues that will play a pivotal role in their preparation for the Asian Games. It also facilitated networking and knowledge-sharing between athletes and officials.

Pakistan won four bronze medals at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang. Among the country’s medal hopes this time is Arshad Nadeem who last week won a silver medal in the men’s javelin at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
